Ouch is Fabric exists to make communication easier. It's a messaging app built around tappable AAC-style buttons spoken aloud by a speech synthesizer — no typing required. Accessibility isn't an add-on for us; it's the point of the product. We're committed to making the app usable by as many people as possible, including people who are non-speaking, have motor or cognitive differences, or rely on assistive technology.

Standard we aim for

We work toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA for this website, and apply the same spirit — perceivable, operable, understandable, robust — to the mobile app. Accessibility is an ongoing effort and we improve continuously.

Accessibility features in the app

Speech built in. Every button is voiced aloud, so the app speaks for you — a core assistive function, not an option.
No typing. Conversations are built from tappable buttons, lowering the barrier for people who find a keyboard difficult.
Screen-reader support. Interactive elements are labelled for VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android).
Large, generous tap targets. Buttons are sized for imprecise touch.
Reduced Motion. When your device has "Reduce Motion" enabled, animations are minimized or removed.
High-contrast, calm visuals. A simple off-white and ink palette, color-coded by part of speech, chosen for legibility.
Multiple languages. The interface is available in English and Japanese, following your device language.

Known limitations

We're honest about where we still have work to do. Some screens are still being audited against assistive technology, and the button vocabulary and spoken voice are currently English-only. We're actively working through these.

Ouch is Fabric は、コミュニケーションをより簡単にするために生まれました。タップできる AAC スタイルのボタンを音声合成エンジンが読み上げる、入力のいらないメッセージアプリです。私たちにとってアクセシビリティは付け足しではなく、このアプリそのものの目的です。発話が難しい方、運動面や認知面に違いのある方、支援技術を利用する方を含め、できるだけ多くの人に使っていただけるよう取り組んでいます。

目指す基準

このウェブサイトについては、ウェブコンテンツ・アクセシビリティ・ガイドライン（WCAG）2.1 レベル AA への準拠を目指しています。また、同じ精神（知覚可能・操作可能・理解可能・堅牢）をモバイルアプリにも適用しています。アクセシビリティは継続的な取り組みであり、私たちは改善を続けています。

アプリのアクセシビリティ機能

音声を内蔵。 すべてのボタンが声に出して読み上げられ、アプリがあなたの代わりに話します。これはオプションではなく、中核となる支援機能です。
入力不要。 会話はタップできるボタンで組み立てられ、キーボードが苦手な方の負担を減らします。
スクリーンリーダー対応。 操作要素には VoiceOver（iOS）と TalkBack（Android）向けのラベルが付いています。
大きく余裕のあるタップ領域。 ボタンは正確に押しづらい場合でも使えるサイズにしています。
視差効果の軽減。 端末で「視差効果を減らす」が有効な場合、アニメーションを最小限に抑える、または取り除きます。
高コントラストで落ち着いた見た目。 読みやすさのために選んだ、オフホワイトとインクのシンプルな配色で、品詞ごとに色分けしています。
多言語対応。 インターフェースは英語と日本語に対応し、端末の言語設定に従います。

既知の制限

まだ取り組むべき点があることを、私たちは率直にお伝えします。一部の画面は支援技術に対する検証を進めている最中であり、ボタンの語彙と読み上げ音声は現在のところ英語のみです。これらに積極的に取り組んでいます。
